Visual Studio 2017 15.5 is finally here!
Visual Studio team has made a huge milestone by releasing of version 15.5 that comes with a lot of excitements. The ones that caught my attentions would be improved performance @ just almost 10 seconds to load a solution, Xamarin Live Player, .NET Standard Xamarin template (rather than our old manual tweak) and improved workflow for publishing web app to Azure VM.
Comparing to VS 2017 15.4, 15.5 definitely loads the solution faster @ just 9 seconds. According to VS team, it is now taking only nearly half of what 15.4 does.
Xamarin Live Player
Xamarin Live Player allows developers to design and preview the UI without re-compiling & re-deploy each of the changes. I believe many Xamarin developers are like me, looking for this to be made available and improved!
Xamarin with .NET Standard Template
I believe this is a great improvement for developers so we don’t have to do old tweak to make our Xamarin app a NET Standard project. With the fade out of PCL option in the app creation window, we would very much appreciate .NET Standard finally made as an option!
Improved Experience for Publishing Web App to Azure VM
In addition, with Visual Studio 2017 15.5, publishing web app to Azure VM has never been so easy. Now, we have an option on the publish screen to select Azure VM as a publish destination. See how it works here.
Lastly, all goodies with 15.5 released for Windows, VS team has also debut Visual Studio for Mac 7.3
